We all have those games that really grabbed our attention when we first heard about them so we rushed out and bought them. Then as one gaming weekend rolls on to another we never quit seem to get those games on to the table. Suddenly, it's been a year and you still haven't even fully read the rules! So with this in mind we thought it time we tried out Android and give Super Dungeon explore another crack. But how did we get on? Is Android really a long wait for a train won't come in the fun department? Can Super Dungeon Explore really capture both the fun of a video game and the explosive fast paced action of a Dungeon crawl board game?

MTGO Sealed Practising Part 2
So I ended up submitting URW (as the eagle eyed readers might have spotted from my basic land count on the right of the pic in the previous post).
It seemed to have a decent mix of stuff early for stalling (white 2 drops, lobber crews) and meat at the top end (skywatch, chaos imps, archon, sphinx)
However it certainly didnt have a core of one guild with a splash of a third linked guild as i usually prefer. it was pure 3 colour, with little fixing, thus the mana was pretty shocking.

Standard at the Games Club 8/11
Pat Chapin drew my attention to this particular beauty from a recent SCG standard open:
RUG Soulbond A Standard deck, by Josh Hendricks 11th place at a StarCityGames.com Standard Open tournament in St. Louis, Missouri, United States on 2012-11-04 | ||
Maindeck: Artifacts 2 Gilded Lotus Creatures 2 Deadeye Navigator 3 Huntmaster of the Fells 3 Izzet Staticaster 3 Nightshade Peddler 2 Snapcaster Mage 2 Zealous Conscripts Instants 2 Dissipate 3 Forbidden Alchemy 2 Izzet Charm 2 Syncopate | Legendary Creatures 1 Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius Planeswalkers 2 Jace, Architect of Thought 1 Tamiyo, the Moon Sage Sorceries 3 Farseek 2 Mizzium Mortars 1 Pillar of Flame Basic Lands 3 Forest 1 Island 1 Mountain Lands 1 Blood Crypt 4 Hinterland Harbor 1 Kessig Wolf Run 1 Overgrown Tomb 4 Rootbound Crag 4 Steam Vents 4 Sulfur Falls |
Wow. Yes, it kinda looks like a pile at a cursory glance. Nightshade Peddler? hes not even that good in limited! But how could i resist the chance to play Izzet Staticasters in the main deck? And Zealous Conscripts & Deadeye navigator?! Bliss! i had to try it.
I've not included the board as i didnt have hardly any of it. In fact i was short a few cards from the main deck, but i figured id be able to borrow those.
Read on for how it went!
MTGO Sealed Practicing PT 1

More Descent and Hexing in East London
The valiant E.L.F gamers barved to foul weather and crazy drivers to go dungeon delving once again in their Descent 2nd Edition Campaign. But could the Heroes pull back some honour having lost both parts of the previous encounter at the Masquerade Ball or will the Half Dragon Lieutenant of the Overlord crush them in a canyon before they even get to the second encounter?

Playing more 40k! In Bromley!
Explorator fleet Porascus landed on the twelfth planet of the star system 34P-Epsilon-minor, newly designated as The Bromite System. Less than twenty four hours after first touching down on the surface all contact was lost with the landing teams. What the Roxnien 67th Imperial Guard Regiment found when they went planetside would haunt them for the rest of their lives, but how long would that be?
This was my first time playing against two new armies as Lee, Charlie and I got through four games in one day.
Don't be afraid my Guard couldn't lose a fourth game in a row, could they? |

Playing 40k!
Deep in the heart of the Ghoul Stars lies the world of Karlstan Prime, a resupply point for the Draloona Crusade Fleet. Tactically insignificant until an ancient warp artefact is unearthed by the planets Planetary Defence Force. Can the Marine Chapter attached to the Crusade Fleet Make safe the planet by finding and destroying the artefact or will the PDF release the power of the warp?
Nic has reworked his Marine bike list to include more dakka, how will the Guard far against this new list?

Preparing for FNG!
Just to get you in the mood for Descent:
Holed up in the Innkeeper's personnel cellar in the Mucky Pup Inn, deep in the heart of Aryn, the four friends stared at each other through the purple haze of the Thraka Weed that filed the air. A prevent silence hung between them, none willing to entice the wrath of the largest of the group by reminding him it was his turn. His calloused, scared fingers stroked a greying moustache as he ruminated over his next play.

Painting using new brushes from Rosemary & Co.
Charlie gave me the nod that a new manufacturer of brushes was being touted by some accomplished painters on the internet, so I thought I'd give them a try! But are they actually any better than the old staple the GW standard brush?

Killing Gladiators in Cardiff!
Will and I took a trip to Cardiff to visit Ian and pop to the home of the Viet Taff, Firestorm Games. Here we found bargains galore but what caught our attention most was the new Spartacus game and the Quarmageddon expansion for Quarriors!

Reading The Crimson Fist
The Crimson Fist
114 page short story, published in Shadows of Treachery
Not being a major fan of the Imperial Fists I wasn't going into this story with a great amount of confidence. But it's got Primarchs and space ship battles so what could go wrong?

Doing a 6 man home sealed of RETURN TO RAVNICA
So, despite some last minute issues with product (that involved a 90 odd minute round trip to Rayleigh to purchase another box) we managed to go ahead with our home release event Friday.
Taking part we had:
Me, Anthony, Will, Nic, Jake and Roy.
We took 6 packs each and got crack-a-lackin!

Review - SCIMITAR PATTERN SPACE MARINE LEGION JETBIKE
Just received this model after someone kindly ordered it for me at Games Day.
As with other Forge World models it needed cleaning up before it could be assembled. This didn't take too long though there was a lot of flashing on the rider.
Assembly was a breeze all the parts fitted together cleanly and easily. I only had to check online to see which way the wings attached. I do think that it would be good for these to come with a diagram for assembly.
I have left off the front mounted bolt gun as I will be using this model for 40k in my bike army and want to model two bolters on the front for the twin linked. The rider will be changed to more fit in with my commander.
Updates will come soon.

Playing Will's first game of 6th Edition
Upon the world of G'lesent Four the Adetus Biologicus have developed a new weapon against the Tyranid threat. Unfortunately their experiments with the Zoanthrope gene code has refused to stay captive and has drawn it's masters to the world. Can the Imperial army hold back the Xenos horde or will Hive Fleet Formorian reclaim what was lost?

Attending Games Day 2012
So Gamesday 2012 has been and gone. Charlie and I both survived multiple encounters with the more interesting characters that one inevitably bumps in to during such events (though I'm convinced that as I get older I am developing one those faces that says 'talk to me').
