Finally finished the Dark Priests. Photo, as usual, not really as good at showing off the bits I am proud of but hey they are done. Now for a couple of dragons and heroes!

Dicing with lasers!
Just a quick image dump of my first steps into custom dice manufacture:
I bought completely blank dice so I have engraved the pips as well |
I only used up two dice in my testing (one properly and one from accidental laser settings so now it is a test die too!) leaving me 18 left over... |
...the first batch of six are Dave dice but I can't resist the idea of making dice for others games. But which ones to choose? |

Getting on with my Descent into summer
Howdy gamers of all persuasions! Whilst the world melts around me I have found the time to keep chipping away at my Descent project.
Finally finished up the monsters for the base game! They don't look bad on mass, though I really dislike the blood effect on the shadow dragons now so might have to fix that later. |

Getting excited and disappointed about Kill Team!
So I got all excited when I heard really positive things about kill team. I began to believe that it could indeed be coming home this summer (my enthusiasm for the 40k universe not the football world cup!) and then I saw that you used card decks... and everything fell apart. Not only do I dislike this mechanic when each player has their own deck as I just want to focus on what my models can do, not have to track what could pop out of a random deck. But this is the FFG effect, spread out all the useful cards over all your boxsets meaning you have to purchase them all even if you don't want those models. Buying decks is bad enough but I can handle that, having to buy space wolf models when I want to play blood angels or orcs when I want to play genestealers is just annoying. Yes there are those out there that love to buy everything, but I just a way to play with the models I already have.
Looking forward to giving it a try but have a feeling that it is going to be another Necromunda for me, cool idea but too many layers of complexity and money grabs. Lets hope I'm wrong!
May your card flips be in your favour!

More messing with Hero Forge
My Dark Cabal!
Evening peeps! Just a quick post with a few images of my finished Flesh Moulders!
Off to do the Goblins now! May your paints never split!
I have to keep reminding myself they are viewed at arms length and not at the distance I am sat from them! |
I may go back ate some point and put in s few more details like eyes and sore skin around the spots on the legs but just want to get stuff on the table asap at the moment |

I really want a 3D printer!!
Just been playing with the Hero Forge website to create a custom model to replace my favourite Descent character. Now if only I had 3D printer I could just buy the file and print as many as I like!
Beware, this site is a time vampire! |

Flaming paint!
Just a quick image update really but also wanted to point out how annoying painting flaming magic is! I have kept working on it but it is turning out worse than I had hoped, then again the cloth is far better so swings and roundabouts I guess!
Really loving the teal colour scheme for my Descent monsters, think it will really stand out once all the other features are added. Just ignore the flames... |

Ettin it finished

Ettin on with it!
With today being my last opportunity to sit down for a prolonged period to paint for a few weeks I thought I might just post up today's progress on the Ettins.
Mainly fur and wood for the rest but there are a could of opportunities for some colours to make the details pop which should add some visual spice.
May the dice be with you!
It really doesn't look like there is much effort to get that skin tone but that represents about five to six coats of different tones. |
I still need to wash it and reapply a couple of tones to get the full depth but so far pretty happy. |

Decent progress on Descent models!
Here is my progress so far on the Merriods for Descent.
Whilst the colour scheme is pretty standard, i.e. follows the art on the card for the model, I am really pleased with it and think these are my favourite models so far. Some blue wash, some highlights and a mix of matt and a decision on matt or gloss varnish (I really like the idea of them looking wet but matt would keep them consistent with the others) and we are done!
P.s for the observant reader, no the Vallejo blue in the background is not the paint I used.

Finally finished some models...and started new ones!
Good morning peeps! I finally found a few regular periods of time to make painting progress... lunch hour and when the boy is being put to bed! Thus I can give a long over due update on my painting progress.

Getting older and going grey
Just a quick post to say GO GREY! As I have posted before I have been painting my Descent models and wasn't really satisfied with the black undercoat I had applied, particularly as I found it hard to see the details. Having watched some painting guides I noticed a trend for using grey undercoats so gave it a try. So far I am loving it. Using the GW grey spray and it is matt, smooth and shows up the details of the (rather small) models really well. Looking forward to getting some paint on them as I feel that the grey should mean I don't need as many layers to get a solid hue.
